A Filipino woman holds her cat up to receive a vaccination from Philippine Veterinary Corps Maj. James B. Baluyan during a cooperative health engagement at Balian Barangay Medical Center, Pangil, Laguna, Philippines, April 3, 2019, as part as Exercise Balikatan. Procedures and lessons learned strengthen U.S.-Philippine relationships, increase interoperability and enhance operational readiness. There are numerous humanitarian and civic action projects scheduled during Balikatan 2019. Humanitarian and civic assistance activities enable our service members to get to know each other and provide support to local communities. Baluyan, a native of Quezon City, Luzon, is a veterinarian with Office of the Chief Veterinary Corps. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Mark Fike)
