    Carrier Strike Group Three (CSG 3)

    An MH-60R Sea Hawk, assigned to Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 71, approaches the flight deck of the guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance (DDG 111) for recovery while transiting the Strait of Hormuz in formation with the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74), middle, the dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Charles Drew (T-AKE 10), and the guided-missile cruiser USS Mobile Bay (CG 53), March 23, 2019. The John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
