BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, LA. - Capt. Matthew Sherwood, 2nd Dental Squadron dental resident, makes preparations to install a prosthetic molar in the lower jaw of Staff Sgt. The dental implant consists of a metal post implanted into the jaw, an abutment which serves as an extension of the post and the prosthetic tooth, which attaches to the abutment piece.
