Spc. Nathon Phelps as places a traction splint on the leg of another soldier at the 2019 medical symposium at hte 240th Regiment (RTI) in Bangor on April 6, 2019. Traction splints are used to stabilize femoral fractures in the field. This is the third annual medical symposium that the Maine Army National Guard has held in which all medics throughout the state attend lectures, skill labs and trauma lanes to learn new medical techiniques and hone skills.
