190406-N-UI104-0312 SOUTH CHINA SEA (April 6, 2019) - U.S. Navy Sailors aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Preble (DDG 88) slack off on the messenger line in preparation to break away from the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) in support of a fueling-at-sea during Exercise Balikatan. In its 35th iteration, Balikatan is an annual U.S.-Philippine military training exercise focused on a variety of missions, including humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, counter-terrorism, and other combined military operations.
