Senior Airman Western Chase stands at the end of an empty casket draped by a U.S. Flag during a training session for the 127th Wing Honor Guard at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., Feb. 10, 2012. In addition to the empty casket, volunteers acted as “grieving family members” to assist honor guard trainees learn the appropriate ceremonial honors to be rendered at a veteran’s funeral. The honor guard held a training session to qualify six new airmen to serve as members of the unit.
