The 1st AML is one of the few U.S. Army units using the Modified Table of Organization and Equipment (MTOE) Assigned Personnel (MAP) program, which allows health professionals to be part of a deployable unit while they perform duties at other U.S. Army Medical Command research or medical facilities such as the APHC, the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center or the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases.
