U.S. Marine Sgt. Nicole Turner, a heavy equipment mechanic with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Female Engagement Team, detainees a simulated adversary using plastic handcuffs, or flexicuffs. Marines and Sailors conducted the training to sharpen and build their skills in preparation for exchanging tactics, techniques, and procedures with troops from foreign nations. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group are deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
