HM3 Gabriel Glass, a corpsman with Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, starts a weed whacker to cut overgrown grass at the Hokon Memorial at Kin Town, Okinawa, Japan, April 18, 2019. Glass, a native of Sacramento, Calif., graduated from Jesuit High School in May 2009, before enlisting in the Navy in May 2016. The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
