190411-N-VO150-1005 NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (April 11, 2019) Ship’s Serviceman 2nd Class Jeffery Rollerson, from La Marque, Texas, and the vice president of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington’s (CVN 73) Second Class Petty Officer Association, breaks down a pair of clippers for the students of Richneck Elementary School as part of the school’s career day. George Washington’s SCPOA was one of six career vendors participating in the Richneck Elementary School career day to help educate the students on possible career opportunities in the Navy, while continuing the effort to build relations in the local community. George Washington is undergoing refueling complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipyard. RCOH is a nearly four-year project performed only once during a carrier’s 50-year service life that includes refueling of the ship’s two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repair, upgrades and modernization.
