The 323d Army Band, "Fort Sam's Own" plays during the Battle of Flowers parade, April 26. Considered the founding event of Fiesta San Antonio, commemorates the victory at San Jacinto and is the second largest day-time parade in the U.S. The parade is also the largest parade in the nation produced entirely by volunteer women. We honor the long-standing partnership between the U.S. military and San Antonio in annual Fiesta events, which commemorate Texas' independence after the Battle of San Jacinto and The Alamo.
