Fort Benning, Ga. – Scout teams from across the U.S. Army and foreign militaries take part in the Recon Run as they compete in the fourth biennial Gainey Cup International Best Scout Competition April 29 at Braves Rifles Field here. Scout squads conduct reconnaissance and security in close proximity to enemy forces and civilian populations to provide commanders with fresh, accurate information about the terrain and the enemy. Scouts can rapidly develop their unit's situational awareness, allowing battalions and brigades to concentrate their combat power at the decisive time and place.
