Several senior civic and Army leaders help the U.S. Army kick off its first-ever Army Week-Pittsburgh during the opening ceremony and expo May 4 at the city’s Point State Park. Pictured are (from right): Brig. Gen. Duane Miller, deputy commanding general of U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command; Maj. Gen. Mark Palzer, commanding general of the U.S. Army Reserve’s 99th Readiness Division; Maj. Gen. Timothy Hilty, assistant adjutant general for the Pennsylvania National Guard; and Pittsburgh Fire Chief Darryl Jones. The kickoff event included performances by the 28th Infantry Division Army Band and the U.S. Army Drill Team, as well as remarks from several senior Army leaders. Army Week–Pittsburgh is a Total Army community outreach effort to connect the Pittsburgh community and its citizens with the Army they haven't met yet — including active Army, National Guard and Army Reserve.
