Students enrolled in the Captains Career Course (CCC) participate in a 72 hour simulated natural disaster field training exercise (FTX) at Camp Bullis, Tex. The FTX was recently added to the course as part of a marked effort to increase academic and tactical rigor in the Program of Instruction.
The HRCoE CCC consists of nine weeks of intensive training that includes hands-on experiences in the Military Decision Making Process, Army, Army Health Systems and Force Health Protection doctrine; unit training management; leadership attributes and staff officer functions.
The CCC is designed to instruct students on the basics of being a mid-grade Army Medical Department (AMEDD) officer. This course provides the student with an increased understanding of the U.S. Army, its various missions and most importantly, how to contribute to the success of those missions. Students are assigned to Alpha Company, 187th Medical Battalion for the duration of their CCC training. The student’s focus at the HCRoE is on discipline, teamwork, midgrade officer skills, tactical medical doctrine, and learning the principles behind becoming an effective, agile leader.
