U.S. Army Soldiers from the Charlie Company 169 at the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport, Mississippi, cheer on athletes during the Special Olympics Mississippi 2019 Summer Games inside the Fuels Hangar at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi, May 11, 2019. Founded in 1968, Special Olympics hosts sporting events around the world for people of all ages with special needs, and this year more than 900 athletes participated from all over Mississippi. Approximately 1,100 volunteers worked together to make the event a success. “We have a long standing partnership with the Special Olympics organization that stretches back over 33 years and some of our people have been volunteering with this event for over 20 years,” said Col.
