U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Rachel Carmichael, drill master, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, throws dirt on a time capsule during the 69th anniversary of women in the Marine Corps aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., Feb. 14, 2012. The celebration was in acknowledgment of sixty-nine years of continuous service by women in the Marine Corps. The time capsule is set to be dug up Feb. 13, 2023.
