A recruit with India Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, makes his initial phone call home during receiving at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, May 13. The next time recruits will be able to contact their loved ones will be by postal mail. Their initial letter home should be expected within 2-3 weeks upon arrival. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. India Company is scheduled to graduate August 9.
