Lt. Col. Julie D'Annunzio made remarks to attendees at her retirement ceremony held May 10, at the Fort Hamilton Community Club's Washington Room in Brooklyn, New York.
D'Annunzio's retirement ceremony provided an end point on a 23-year career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Former military colleagues, college friends and members of the Corps' North Atlantic Division (NAD) filled the room and gave her a standing ovation at the conclusion of her remarks.
She served in assignments of increasing responsibility until her most recent, final assignment as NAD's Chief of Staff. Her career also included overseas assignments in Mosul, Iraq as the 2nd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division's brigade engineer and in Korea as the deputy commander of the Far East District, Pacific Ocean Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Lt. Col. D'Annunzio is a native of Bradford, Pennsylvania and she graduated with a bachelor's degree in geology from Slippery Rock University in Butler County, Pennsylvania.
