    22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit

ARABIAN SEA (May 22, 2019) U.S. Marine Col. Michael J. Perez, the commanding officer of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), talks to Marines enrolled in Corporals Course about the principles of leadership aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3). Corporals Course teaches Marines the fundamentals of being a noncommissioned officer and prepares them to take on more responsibilities within their unit. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) are currently deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
