The Bronze and Silver Star sit on display at an award ceremony where they will be presented to Marines with Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command at Camp Pendleton, Calif., March 12. Staff Sgt. Andrew K. Thompson received the military’s third highest award, the Silver Star. Staff Sgt. Maurice Scott received the fourth highest award, the Bronze Star, at Camp Pendleton, Calif., March 12. Thompson, from Bismark, N.D., led Marines and Afghans successfully into an attack under intense fire to overcome the enemy, according to the citation. Scott, 33, from Chicago, employed supporting aircraft to break lines and hinder enemy activity during a night helicopter raid, according to the citation.
