Maj. George Caves, executive officer for the 1st Battalion, 279th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Oklahoma Army National Guard, shows Maj. Gen. Michael C. Thompson, adjutant general for Oklahoma, a sand boil located on top of a levee in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A sand boil is a cone of sand formed by the ejection of sand onto a surface from a central point. The process is often associated with soil liquefaction and the ejection of fluidized sand that can occur in water-saturated sediments. More than 300 Oklahoma National Guard members are assisting law enforcement, first responders and other agencies during the May 2019 floods throughout Northern Oklahoma.
