French, U.S. and 82nd Airborne Division flag is flown in Ste. Mere Eglise, France May 31, 2019. More than 1,300 U.S. Service Members and 950 military personal from Europe and Canada are commemorating the 75th anniversary of WWII Operation Overlord, the Allied Invasion of Normandy, France, on June 6, 1944, also known as D-Day. Participating military units will take part in more than 70 events from June 1-9, 2019, throughout almost 40 French communities in the region.
