Maj. Gen. Tommy Baker, the Deputy Adjutant General of the Tennessee National Guard, discussed training during exercise Shaken Fury with Col. Tommy Cauthen, director of joint operations Tenn. for the exercise and Col. Lee Hartley, commander of the 134th Air Refueling Wing. Shaken Fury is a Federal Emergency Management Agency led exercise simulating a catastrophic earthquake along the New Madrid Seismic Zone (NMSZ) near Memphis, Tenn. The purpose of the exercise was to examine and improve the community’s response to a “no-notice” earthquake, recognize shortfalls in resources, and develop a coordinated recovery strategy plan.
