Soldiers with the 316th ESC learn about setting up the medium Trailer Mounted Support System tent safely from instructor James Fina at Fort Dix, N.J., March 17. Fina talked of a situation when safety protocols were not followed. He and several soldiers were inside of one of these tents, which weigh over 600 pounds, when the outside stakes were pulled by personnel who did not check the inside of tent first. All but one of the Soldiers made it out from inside the tent before it collapsed. Luckily the soldier who was trapped inside made it to an area that did not have any of the tent structure above him and made it out alive and unharmed. This story really showed soldiers the danger these tents can pose if safety is not the primary concern.
