World War II veteran Robert Levine is a guest of honor at a ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of D-Day and Operation Overlord, at the National World War II Memorial, Washington, D.C., June 6, 2019. Levine landed on Utah Beach as part of the Normandy Invasion; he was later captured and held by the Nazis as a prisoner of war. He credits a Nazi doctor for saving his life by taking his dogtags, which had an “H” on them to indicate Hebrew (Jewish). (DoD photo by Lisa Ferdinando)
