Foggo III, commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa holds sand from Utah Beach, Normandy, as he delivers remarks during a United States Navy Memorial and Frogmen Association of Utah Beach dedication ceremony in Normandy, France, June 6, 2019. Foggo’s father arrived in France on D+44 with the 4th Canadian Armored Division and brought the sand home with him after WWII. U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa/U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied and interagency partners in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
