Retired. Colonel Gail Seymour "Hal" Halvorsen - "The Candy Bomber" participates in a ceremony commemorating the Berlin Airlift.
The event on 10, 11 June on Clay Kaserne, Wiesbaden, Germany, marked the 70th Anniversary of the Berlin Airlift. Somewhere in the region of 50'000 attendees were allowed in and around the aircraft to get a feel of what it was like to fly in these machines.
The Western Allies organized the Berlin airlift (26 June 1948–30 September 1949) to carry supplies to the people of West Berlin.
