Retired U.S. Air Force Col. Gail Halvorsen, infamously known as the "Candy Bomber," greets the crowd at Wiesbaden Army Airfield June 10, 2019, during the Berlin Airlift 70th Anniversary commemoration hosted by U.S. Army Garrison Wiesbaden and the city of Wiesbaden at Clay Kaserne. The anniversary event honored those who were a part of the airlift, as well as the individuals who lost their lives in the effort.
Over 45,000 people attended the event where food, music, vintage aircraft and vehicles, and the opportunity to meet Halvorsen awaited them. (U.S. Army photo by Ashley L. Keasler)
