Levees are man–made structures, usually earthen embankments or concrete floodwalls, designed and constructed to engineering standards to contain,
control, or divert the flow of water to provide reasonable temporary flood management. There are different categories of levees within Public Law 84-99 and there are different kinds of repairs and rehabilitation to levees following a flood. This graphic aims to clarify the types of repairs and categories of levees.
