Herrmann, commanding officer of the amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21), talks to Hampton Roads media during a media availability prior to the ship getting underway from Naval Station Norfolk. New York is deploying as part of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group with embarked Marines from the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (24th MEU) supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility.
