190620-N-SS350-0009 GULF OF OMAN (June 20, 2019) Machinist’s Mate 2nd Class Carson Karcher, from Howey, Fla., charges the hydraulics on the rapid securing device aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Bainbridge (DDG 96). Bainbridge is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operation in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
