Oregon Army National Guard Staff Sgt. Donald Schuch watches a camel pass his vehicle as he surveys a training site at the Rutbuk Range in Oman, Jan. 19. Schuch’s unit, the Oregon National Guard’s 1st Squadron, 82nd Cavalry Regiment, traveled to the Persian Gulf country for a company-level field training exercise involving light infantry tactics with the Royal Army of Oman. The U.S. Army Central-sponsored event was designed to share knowledge and build diplomatic relations.
