President George W. Bush is greeted by BG Timothy C. Hanifen, the Commanding General of 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward) (2 MAW (FWD)), at the Al Asad Airbase flight line, during a surprise visit Sept. 3 to meet with Iraqi Government Officials and other American political figures to discuss the rebuilding efforts of Al Anbar province, Iraq. 2nd MAW (FWD) is deployed with Multi-National Forces-West in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Al Anbar province of Iraq to develop the Iraqi security forces, facilitate the development of official rule of law through democratic reforms and continue the development of a market-based economy centered on Iraqi reconstruction.
