190627-N-NU281-1191 SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN (June 27, 2019) Sailors watch aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) as Chilean Navy frigate CNS Almirante Condell (FF-06) passes alongside during a "leap frog" maneuvering exercise. Michael Murphy is participating in UNITAS LX in Valparaiso, Chile, from June 24-July 3. UNITAS, Latin for "unity," is the world's longest-running multinational maritime exercise. Conceived in 1959 and first executed in 1960, UNITAS is a demonstration of U.S. commitment to the region and the strong relationships forged between our partner nations and their militaries.
