For the first time ever, the Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy’s (T-AH 19) Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) used its trauma simulation center to host and support Fleet Surgical Team One for team training!
The training is a milestone for the MTF who has been working toward collaborating with Fleet medical assets on the waterfront to provide them with an afloat platform for realistic, high-fidelity training scenarios.
The simulation center, used extensively during Pacific Partnership 2018 to train partner and host nation medical personnel, is a new capability for the MTF and offers capability to the San Diego Navy community as a way to maintain operational medical readiness.
