190712-N-KM072-010 (KEY WEST, Fla.) Staff of Lower Keys Medical Center; Key West, Monroe County and Naval Air Station Key West Fire Rescue Departments; and the National Guard 156th Aeromedical Evacuation Unit participated in a hospital hurricane evacuation drill at Naval Air Station Key West’s Boca Chica Field. The drill simulates loading patients into a C-130 aircraft in the event of a necessary evacuation of the Key West hospital for a hurricane. They also participated in ground training with the National Guard’s C-17 aircraft crew. Naval Air Station Key West is the state-of-the-art facility for combat fighter aircraft of all military services, provides world-class pierside support to U.S. and foreign naval vessels, and is the premier training center for surface and subsurface military operations.
