A landing craft air cushion approaches the well deck of the multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) after pre-staging 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit assets in Cap Draa, Morocco, before the commencement of Operation African Lion 2012. Iwo Jima is deployed as part of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group with the embarked 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit and will support maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility.
