Birdsboro, Pa., native Cmdr. Sean Barbabella speaks to a group of Marines and sailors during his award ceremony April 5. Barbabella received the Legion of Merit, one of the military’s highest decorations, for his exemplary actions as the 2nd Marine Division (Forward) division surgeon during a recent yearlong deployment. Barbabella was credited with restructuring the patient tracking system, developing a system of tracking concussion injuries, and mentoring medical specialists with the Afghan National Army’s 215th Corps.
