Staff Sgt. Daniel Schur, right, and Staff Sgt. Gavin Rook, both of the 119th Wing, check their targets as they prepare to compete in the 2019 North Dakota National Guard Adjutant General’s Combat Marksmanship Match at the Camp Grafton Training Center firing complex, near McHenry, North Dakota, July 11, 2019. They are both members of the 119th Wing Alpha Team that had the top aggregate score in the state National Guard shooting match. Rook has been accruing points over the past few years shooting, winning and placing at accreted excellence in competition (EIC) matches and this competition earned him enough points to achieve Distinguished Marksmanship Badges in both rifle and pistol shooting. At age 22, Rook is the youngest North Dakota National Guard shooter to earn the Distinguished Marksmanship Badge in both rifle and in pistol. He is believed to be the first North Dakota Air National Guard member to ‘go double-distinguished.’ (U.S. Air National Guard photo by David H. Lipp)
