    USS New Hampshire Shifts Homeports

Sailors stand ready as the Virginia-class fast-attack submarine USS New Hampshire (SSN 778) arrives at Naval Station Norfolk in Norfolk, Virginia, July 16, 2019. Designed for a broad spectrum of open-ocean and littoral missions, New Hampshire excels in anti-submarine warfare, anti-ship warfare, strike warfare, special operations, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, irregular warfare and mine warfare. Since World War II, submarine operations have paved the way for most of today’s submarine missions. Today’s submarine force consists of 53 fast-attack submarines, 14 ballistic-missile submarines and four guided-missile submarines.
