SUQUAMISH, Wash. (July 19, 2019) Sailors assigned to Naval Base Kitsap, Naval Facilities Engineering Command Northwest and Marine Corps Security Forces Battalion-Bangor assist in the transporting of a tribal canoe during a canoe landing hosted by the Lummi Nation. The canoe landing is part of the Intertribal Canoe Journey - Paddle to Lummi, a heritage-rich event started in 1989, which features multiple tribal nations from along the Salish Sea, along the Pacific Coast, British Columbia, and Alaska traveling via canoe to numerous tribal landing sites culminating in a landing in the Lummi Nation.
