A helicopter takes off during Exercise Talisman Sabre 2019 (TS19) at Rockhampton, Queensland, July 14, 2019. Approximately 34,000 service members from the U.S., Australian Defence Force, New Zealand Defence Force, Japan Self-Defense Force and Canadian Armed Forces are participating in TS19 and are spread along the east coast of Australia. Training is conducted from multiple locations in Australia, to include Royal Australian Air Force Amberley, Queensland, Enoggera Barracks in Brisbane, Queensland, Headquarters of Joint Operations Command in Canberra, New South Wales, the maritime areas of the Coral Sea, and Australian ranges including the Shoalwater Bay Training Area as well as a number of non-Defense training areas in central Queensland. TS19 is meant to provide effective and intense training to ensure all participating forces are deployable on short notice, capable, interoperable and combat-ready.
