Natalie Hilberg, next-of-kin of U.S. Navy Radioman 2nd Class Howard V. Keffer, watches as Keffer's casket is taken away during his funeral service at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii, July 23, 2019. Keffer was assigned to the USS Oklahoma weeks before it was sunk by sustained fire from Japanese aircraft and multiple torpedo hits causing the ship to capsize and resulted in the deaths of over 400 crew members on Dec. 7, 1941, at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor. Keffer was recently identified through DNA analysis by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency’s (DPAA) forensic laboratory and returned to his family for burial with full military honors.
