Commanders from 1st Combat Engineer Battalion and 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, honor fallen hero Cpl. Alex Martinez, during a memorial ceremony, April 13, 2012. Martinez was a combat engineer with 1st CEB, 1st Marine Division (Forward) and was deployed in support of 2nd Bn., 5th Marines. He was killed in action April 5 while conducting combat operations in Now Zad District. During the ceremony, Marines spoke about the man and Marine that Martinez was and what they would remember most about him.
