190727-N-DQ787-0022 BRISBANE, Australia (July 27, 2019) Rear Adm. Fred Kacher, commander, Expeditionary Strike Group 7, and Royal Australian Army Major Gen. Roger Noble, deputy chief, Joint Operations, Australian Defense Force, salute as the color guard parades the colors during the closing ceremony of the eighth U.S. and Australian exercise Talisman Sabre 2019 held aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1). Wasp Expeditionary Strike Group, with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, just concluded exercise Talisman Sabre 2019 off the coast of Northern Australia. A bilateral, biennial event Talisman Sabre is designed to improve U.S. and Australian combat training, readiness and interoperability through realistic, relevant training necessary to maintain regional security, peace and stability.
