U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Michael McPhail, a Darlington, Wisconsin native, competes at Fort Benning, Georgia in a Three-Position Rifle event. McPhail competed in the 2016 Rio Olympics in Prone Rifle. Since the Olympic Committee had dropped Prone Rifle event from the Olympic Games schedule, the Fort Benning Soldier has adapted his training and Olympic sights in the Three-Position Rifle event, which he earned a 2020 Olympic Quota for at the 2018 International Shooting Sports Federation World Championship in Changwon, South Korea.
