U.S. Army paratroopers of 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade compete in a physical training event designed to determine the most physically fit platoon in the battalion, July 30, 2019. The extremely competitive event, performed in IOTV and boots, consisted of several runs, LMTV tire flips, rope climbs, sandbag carries, relay sprints with accompanying weights, and sled drags. Each station added more and more equipment that each platoon had to carry with them past the finish line. After a grueling 4.6 miles, 1-503’s Attack Company emerged victoriously and took the battalion trophy.
The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army’s Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to the United States Europe, Africa and Central Commands areas of responsibilities. Forward deployed across Italy and Germany, the brigade routinely trains alongside NATO allies and partners to build partnerships and strengthen the alliance.
