New York National Guard Soldiers of 1 Battalion 258th Field Artillery participate in a ride along on a CH47F Chinook helicopter belonging to B Company 3rd Battalion, 126th Aviation during sling load training at Fort Drum, New York on Saturday July 27th, 2019. During sling load training a M777 howitzer is attached to a CH47F Chinook helicopter via a specially designed cable and lifted off the ground to simulate doing so in a combat environment. The 1st Battalion, 258th Field Artillery Soldiers were conducting live fire training and other exercises at Fort Drum as part of their two week annual training.
