Maryanne Miller, Air Mobility Command commander, gives the closing remarks of the Dyess Memorial Park dedication ceremony, July 19, 2019, Abilene, Texas. 133 Gold Star families attended the opening of the expanded park that recognizes the 79 Dyess military personnel who have given their lives in the line of duty. “Today is about thanksgiving,” said Miller. “Thanks to the Abilene community for the incredible gift of this memorial and for the opportunity to honor our fallen Airmen and their precious families. I thank the Airmen of Dyess for their service and sacrifice every day — all around the globe. Finally, to the Gold Star families, thank you for your courage.
