U.S. Marine Cpl. Johnathon Nettles, a cyber network administrator with Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force – Southern Command, assembles a satellite dish for communications during a training exercise in Puerto Barrios, Guatemala, July 29, 2019. The task force sent 11 Marines to Puerto Barrios to produce a fully functioning, self-sustained forward command element with a 24-hour watch. The successful completion of this training validated the task force’s procedures for rapid response to humanitarian aid and disaster relief missions in the region. The task force is conducting training and engineering projects alongside partner nation military forces in the region, and also on standby to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in the event of a hurricane or other emergencies nearby.
